This year at the Anime Festival Asia, AFA’09, they will be importing their very own Maid cafe, but these maids seem to be more of the masters if you ask me.![]()
The idea of a maid cafe is litterally the spawn of anime. From the hugly popolar harim animes, to the pure fan service animes, maid cosplay has always been the corner stone of moe fantasy. Then like magic, real life cafes were popping up with cute girls in maid outfits serving tea and snacks. These girls would of course not just supply japanes men with stellar service, but also company and conversation. These neo-geshia have boomed and other themed cafes have also sprung up, including a bikini bottom, but not top, cafe. These charming ladies have always drawn a crowd and now AFA’09 is adding them to their roster. I have never heard of an expo or con having its own maid cafe, but I cant say the idea isn’t appealing. Due to the reputation of glomping and other otaku social taboos, AFA was kind enough to include an instructional video about the don’t of cafe etiquette.
Let us know if you think every con should have its own Maid cafe, or if you ever been to one yourself.

My friends and I belive that there should be a maid cafe. As anime fans we belive it is right that we have an area where we can met others like us.

It’s a great idea! Somewhere where otakus can meet and somewhere where girls and even guys could get a nice job doing something with anime.
